Develop a strong message

Date November 28, 2005

It takes a strong message to make a story newsworthy. A program or event may be helping hundreds or even thousands of people improve their lives, but without promoting it through a strong message it may be ignored by the media and thus, the general public. Apply these standards to ensure you have a strong message.

• Have a well-defined goal for what is being promoted

• Define the key points of the program

• Ensure the message will further the program’s goals

• Understand the possible obstacles to the programs success and have solutions to them
